FIT’s campus spans one NYC block and meets fashion from corner to corner.
I decided it was time student street style was showcased on a wider basis. This past week it was Ralph Vibar’s business casual vibes juxtaposed with athletic wear that caught my eye. Check it out below.
Name: Ralph Vibar
Major: Advertising Design
Hometown: Manila, Philippines (Raised in Queens, NY)
Q1: How would you describe your personal style?
“My personal style would be like if James Dean just left the gym in 2018, but forgot his nice clothes at home, but has a dinner to go to at 7:00 so he’s forced to wear his tights and shorts, his Nike’s, a grey sweater and a nice black coat…. And a pack of gum.”
Q2: Who is your style role model/style inspiration?
“Nick Wooster, Jerry Lorenzo, and James Dean”
Q3: Where are key pieces from your outfit from?
“Reiss (Coat), Club Monaco (Shirt), Nike (Shoes, socks, bag), Ray Ban (Sunglasses)”
Q4: What is your favorite trend at the moment?
“Definitely athleisure. Simple, fitting, and comfortable.”
Q5: Least favorite trend?
“Now? I’m not too sure. If we were to look back though I’d say the streetwear look back in 2009-2010. I remember the “coolest” kids in school were the ones who wore jean jackets with huge, obnoxious pins hanging from them while wearing a SnapBack and tight jeans with studded belts and a pair of $5 fake glasses from Hot Topic…. That’s how you know they hung out waaaay too much in malls after school.”
Q6: What is your favorite spring item you cannot wait to break out?
