If you haven’t heard by now – June is known as Pride month. Which means that LGBTQ+ members, allies and supporters have been parading their pride for the community all month long. While the popularity of the many international Pride parades has been steadily growing in recent years, due to the increased acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community, the first parade was actually created as a homage to the 1969 Stonewall riots. While the first parade took place on just one day in New York City, it has now expanded to encompass a whole month of Pride celebrations around the world.
Despite the large array of Pride celebrations that now occur globally, the New York Pride parade still remains as one of the biggest and baddest around. And with the New York City Pride parade this past weekend, my feed (as well as everyone else’s, I’m sure) has been flooded with heaps of joyous photos from the parade. But not everyone had the privilege to attend the parade, so instead they showed their support from home – by creating an artful array of rainbow makeup looks. The skilled brush strokes and impressive blending techniques is definitely what made these looks eye catching and noteworthy, but what I appreciated most about these looks is how loudly they display their support for the LGBTQ+ community. Someone’s face, or makeup, is often the thing that gets noticed first about a person – so by rainbow painting your face it serves as an example to others, showing them that there is no need to hide who your true colors anymore.
So even though Pride month is coming to a close, let’s still show some love and support for the LGBTQ+ community by celebrating some the best makeup looks from the month.
