Hello, Blush family and friends! I hope everyone is staying safe (somewhat sane) and healthy during social distancing. I’ve gone through a wave of emotions the past few weeks transitioning to entirely online classes, preparing for graduation at the end of this semester, job hunting, and moving sometime within the next 3-4 weeks. On top of that, I haven’t seen my special person for almost four weeks, and it is KILLING me. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. I do not have the luxury of living with my significant other, and I do not want to put my health, his health, and any other people we are in contact with at risk. So how does one keep a healthy (and steamy) relationship intact during this scary, uncertain time? Here are some tips I’ve been relying on.

Communication

Communication, communication, communication. I cannot stress this enough! Whether it’s through texting, calling, FaceTime, messenger pigeon, maintaining some sort of communication is key. Admittedly, after a week or two, I felt weird talking to my lover (let’s call him Adam) because there was nothing new or exciting going on. Wake up. Eat. Workout. Freak out a little over the news. Stress eat. Read. Nap. Eat again. Sleep. Repeat. I also got let go from my internship a few weeks ago that was the primary source of keeping me distracted and busy. But texting Adam every day not only lowered my stress levels, it was also nice to have some sense of normalcy in this crazy time. We’ve shared cooking recipes and videos, workouts we’ve been doing, photos of each other doing mundane things, and an embarrassing amount of memes. Also, knowing that we’re both ok and healthy is something we don’t take for granted. Hey babe, if you’re reading this, I miss you!

Use Technology to Your Advantage

With the stay at home order being extended, businesses and other institutions have released activities to keep us busy and distracted. Rumble, 301 Fitness, Barry’s, SoulCycle, and other fitness companies have switched to FREE online classes through IG TV or YouTube. And what better way to feel motivated than virtually working out with your partner?

There is also a new Google Chrome extension called Netflix Party that allows people to host long-distance movie nights and TV watch parties. Still haven’t watched Parasite? Need someone to discuss the craziness of Joe Exotic with? Or want to binge-watch a new series? This is the perfect thing.

Learning is sexy! FreeCodeCamp is offering Ivy League courses for free! The list includes courses from Brown, Yale, Cornell, and Penn State, just to name a few. They offer everything from bitcoin technology to mobile app development to ancient philosophy to the introduction to German opera. I’ve got my eye on the gamification course. Whether you want to learn together or share some of that knowledge, this list has something for everyone!

Bring Sexy Back (Quarantine Edition)

Getting ideas on how to keep things spicy and new in the bedroom is hard enough without not being able to see your partner physically. However, I have a few solutions for you. Adam and I are very…talkative during sex and have gracefully transferred it over through text; Things that would make a dominatrix blush. And if you’re like me and have an extensive collection of lingerie, that’s the perfect add-on to any kind of dirty talk. And if you need some inspo, you might be lucky and catch the ghosts of porn on Tumblr.

One of my most beloved items is my wireless, remote control vibrator. It’s hands-free with seven different vibrations modes, or you can sync it to a song on Apple Music or Spotify. So if you’ve wanted to get freaky to Skin by Rihanna or Slide by H.E.R or What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction (I’m not judging), now is your chance! All you need to do is download the LOVENSE remote app, and you’re good to go! You can either play solo or mix it up and have your partner play with you. Plus, it’s so quiet and strong that you won’t have to worry about the thin walls in your family home. Don’t worry. I’m in the same boat. And it doesn’t just have to be a quarantine novelty; you can wear it in public once social distancing is over and have your partner take control. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. And you can always rely on the good, old, trustworthy handheld vibrator which will give you just what you need. Here are a few of my favorites. Reminder to stock up on batteries on the next CVS run!

And lastly (and probably the most exciting), Pornhub Premium is now free! There are no ads; you get access to exclusive content from independent creators and full-length videos from well-known porn companies. Whether you want to drop a few hints about some fun ideas you want to play out in the future, or if you and your partner need some new de-stressing tactics, you won’t be disappointed. This message is not sponsored by Pornhub, but coming from a very happy user.

And on a more serious note, we’re all going through a crazy time right now, so don’t be afraid to lean on each other for some emotional support. It’s very easy to get caught in a vortex of anxiety and despair, but you can ease some of that fear by just talking to someone you love. Adam saying “I miss you” and videos of him cooking and working out never fail to put a smile on my face.

I hope you, your loved ones, and enemies alike are healthy and safe. I know social distancing is hard and not part of typical human nature, but this is the only way to flatten the curve. And please, stop hoarding toilet paper! Sending positive ~vibes~ your way!
