FIT’s campus spans one NYC block and meets fashion from corner to corner.
I decided it was time student street style was showcased on a wider basis. This past week it was Juliet Pettit’s playful orange look that caught my eye. Check it out below.
Name: Juliet Pettit
Major: Fashion Business Management
Hometown: Roxbury, NJ
Q1: How would you describe your personal style?
“I don’t really have a set style that I dress. I like to combine a little of everything, creating fresh and fun looks!”
Q2: Who is your style role model/style inspiration?
“The inspiration behind my looks don’t necessarily come from specific people, like celebrities. I am inspired by what I see on the streets. I’d say my favorite location to gather inspiration is definitely Chinatown and Soho. I intern for a stylist and she is located in that area. Whenever she needs me to pick up at nearby showrooms or shop for a shoot in Soho, I usually walk to the those given locations. I see quite a bit of intriguing people with impeccable stye.”
Q3: Where are key pieces from your outfit from?
“Dollskill (Jacket, top, skirt), Asos (Shoes), Forever21 (Socks).”
Q4: What is your favorite trend at the moment?
“I’d have to say my favorite trend at the moment would have to be mules. They are simple yet chic. If styled well, mules definitely go with everything! Also, it’s not really a trend, but I also love shoes with a funky heel; whether it’s an unconventional shape or it has a funky pattern/fabric on it. They definitely add a fun and eccentric vibe to any look. I feel as though every heel lover should have two or three pairs of these kind of heels in their closet.”
Q5: Least favorite trend?
“I have to say a trend I wasn’t too fond of would be the camo pants. I personally find camo print unappealing, and I mean hey, some people rock them; but they are just not for me.”
Q6: What is your favorite spring item you cannot wait to break out?
“An item I am ready to break out for spring are my spaghetti strap mini dresses! I mean, for me, it’s mini dress/skirt season year round, but at least in the spring people won’t ask, ‘are you cold?'”
Q7: Favorite beauty look?
“I’m not too interested in makeup, for I am not very good at it!! I can barely apply mascara…”
