If you thought the Jenner sisters had their plates full with reality T.V, lip kits, Puma deals, Calvin Klein ads, mobile games, Topshop and Pacsun collaborations – you were wrong. Back in February, the original ready-to-wear line by Kendall and Kylie was launched, including apparel and footwear inspired by pieces from their personal style and actual pieces that they would wear. The exclusive line was picked up by multiple major retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Fast forward to today, the duo sisters have just launched another clothing line consisting of nine pieces, exclusively sold at Neiman Marcus. This collection was inspired by the sisters’ “favorite vintage pieces and their current closets.”
“When we started working on our spring ready-to-wear line, we knew we had to do exclusive looks for the Neiman Marcus shopper,” said Kylie Jenner in a press release. “We paid a lot of attention to the fabrics and silhouettes.” Kylie talks about the designing aspect of the collection that consisted of selecting fabrics such as “Italian leather, Turkish jacquard and Chinese hammered silks and colors, and reviewing the prototypes and sketches.”
“We specifically wanted to make things different and exclusive so it would draw people to a certain store but we kind of love a good piece. I mean, everything we are wearing right now is from the exclusives,” Kendall shared, “It is sophisticated, clean and beautifully tailored. We incorporated a lot of sophisticated and versatile pieces that were simple yet chic. We wanted to widen our range of customers by introducing a more premium clothing line.”
Kylie added, “We have this amazing white leather jacket that I’m obsessed with and I feel like the pieces just are really fun but still sophisticated and mature and just reflect us. We pushed ourselves to help curate the very best pieces to be a part of this collection. We knew we had to focus on creating timeless, chic pieces that the Neiman Marcus shopper would love.” Kylie also talks about how it is to work with her siblings in a press release. She says, “It’s actually not harder. It’s way more fun, I would say, and it’s great to have two different strong opinions within the line. Some people love Kendall’s style and don’t really like my style or vice versa, so it’s great to have different pieces that maybe Kendall spent more time on, or I did. We love to mix and match. I’ll wear anything in the collection.”
Finally, the Jenner sisters talk about how they don’t really plan out their outfits. Kylie bases her outfit on her mood, while Kendall goes straight for what she likes. They close their statement by saying that they make clothes that they like and they’re sure that they will be wearing more of their pieces down the line.
At the rooftop party, there were four models dressed from head to toe with pieces from the Kendall and Kylie capsule collection. At the event, which Kylie posted on her Snapchat account, showed her bestie Jordan Woods and momager Kris Jenner. Kris says, “My daughters grew up at Neiman’s. When I moved to Los Angeles, as soon as I could get credit I got a Neiman’s card, and when I was pregnant I shopped there all the time because all I could buy was accessories. I almost went into labor at Neiman’s. They could have been born there.” Kendal Jokes about Senior Vice President and creative director Ken Downing being their uncle Ken when he says he’s practically a Kardashian, “He just need to dye his hair black.”
While they answered questions from the press, Kylie’s friend was also wearing a piece from the Kendall and Kylie Collection – a skin tight black dress that had a curved slit in the front that was closed with strings – which Kylie posted a while back on her Instagram account, wearing this same dress with the caption #Kendall+KylieCollection coming out soon. The event ended in typical Kardashian/Jenner style, with a special performance by Aqualillies water ballerinas. Guests immediately reached out for their phones to capture this particular moment.
Some of the brand’s most popular pieces that Kendall and Kylie both wore to their launch party consisted of a white zip-front leather jacket ($995), a striped long-sleeved crop top ($245), a waist-tie silk midi skirt ($375), and a black carwash skirt ($395) that looks to be up Kim Kardashian’s alley. This collection is elegant with structured dresses, sharp jumpsuits, and expertly draped silk skirts. Prices range from $95 for a t-shirt up to $995, which is the famous white Italian leather jacket. This collection has been available for purchase at 42 Neiman Marcus stores since April 7th and available online at http://www.neimanmarcus.com/.
