MYK Silk Pillowcases are Like Sleeping on a Cloud

I’ve always struggled with some sort of skin issue my whole life. Whether it be acne, hyper-pigmentation, uneven skin texture, it was always something. My hair in the morning also looks as if I had just stuck a fork in a socket with all of the dry shampoo (a college girl’s best friend), I’ve had to use. In my fight against bad skin and hair, something I had never considered upgrading was my pillowcase. Our faces are in contact with our pillowcase more than any other fabric, so it makes sense that the material of it could make or break your skin and hair from looking and feeling refreshed. So, when MYK Silk reached out to me to try their pillowcases, I jumped at the chance.

Standing for “My Kind of Silk,” the brand started when the founders took a trip to Asia and experienced high quality silk for the first time. The softness and sheen was so wonderfully comforting and relaxing, something like they’ve never experienced before. After returning to the states, they tried to find the same beauty-enriching, affordable, silk, but they were disappointed to find the available options were either too costly or poorly made. So, they took matters into their own hands and began to study the production process of silk from start to finish, and thus MYK Silk was born!

Here are just some of the benefits of using their pure mulberry silk products:

They help retain skin moisture. Silk helps keeps moisture close to your skin and will keep your face more hydrated than any other fabric on the market. They help money on those expensive overnight moisturizers!

They’re naturally hypoallergenic. Some silk’s properties include a natural resistance to dust mites, fungus, and mold, in addition to other allergens. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not have my face touching those things.

Reduce bed head and split ends. The natural properties of silk, including being rich in natural proteins and amino acids, can help reduce friction on your hair which often causes damage, like split ends.

Prevents wrinkles. Silk’s smooth surface with very little friction means less tugging on skin than traditional cotton pillowcases. Studies show that friction from tossing and turning causes creases in the skin, but a silky smooth surface can reduce that effect in the long run.

Plus, they’re clinically tested, and free of harmful chemicals!

Besides pillowcases, they also make silk sheets, sleepwear (for both men and women!), eye masks, sleep caps, and very trendy scrunchies.

I gave the MYK Silk pillowcase about a month to work it’s magic to see if I noticed any differences and I did! Almost immediately, my hair was noticeably less frizzy and looked a lot healthier. So much so, that my boyfriend asked if I had done anything different to my hair. ~*shocker*~ My skin was also starting to become way more smooth and less dry in the mornings (which was such a problem during the summer since my fan would just be creating dry air). And while silk pillowcases haven’t been proven to reduce acne, I haven’t seen as many breakouts as before.

Me and my MYK Silk pillow

Now I’ve now been dreading sleeping at friends’ houses if they have cotton pillowcases (kidding! But not really). Their motto is, “We weave confidence, quality and comfort with every thread,” and trust me, they do not disappoint.
