Meet the Team Behind the Blush Spring 2019 Issue

Yesterday was a very exciting day, as it saw the launch of the Blush Spring 2019 print issue. Editor-in-Chief, Nicole Plonski, was the driving force behind the theme, Minimalism X Maximalism, and saw Blush’s first double-sided cover, ever. Meet the talented team behind the issue, below.

Nicole O. Plonski

Editor-in-Chief

Fabric Styling BFA, 2020

What is the best part of working at Blush?

Being able to create, as well as work with, other hardworking creatives to make my vision come to life through beauty, fashion, and design.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Derek Hough; the hope is that the dinner would turn into more of a dance party.

Emily Kelly

Creative Director

Graphic Design, class of 2020

What is the best part of working at Blush?

Meeting new people and working together to make something great. 🙂

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Surprise me.

Jenna Solomon

Art Director

Graphic Design, class of 2020

What is the best part of working at Blush?

Bringing all of the work together through the design! And of course working with the team because I would have nothing without them. 🙂

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

Either Jessica Walsh-because she’s graphic design careers goals, or Maisie Williams, and Sophie Turner together, because they are my age and lived out my childhood dream (plus they just seem fun to hang out with).

Tevin Consiglio

Fashion Director

Fashion Business Management; Advertising & Marketing Communications, class of 2021

What is the best part of working at Blush?

My favorite part about my job is getting to be a voice for the students at FIT. This semester we really wanted everyone to feel represented in the magazine, and I think we really accomplished that.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

Rihanna because she’s the definition of an all-around mogul and I would have so many questions for her both as a businesswoman and an artist. Also, I need to talk about this new album.

Tina Dirosa

Photo Director

Photography and Related Media, class of 2021

What is the best part of working at Blush?

The best part of my job with blush is working with a group of creatives that aren’t afraid. Everyone is bold and crazy minded and we all need that. I was able to direct photoshoots while having other visual artists create their OWN vision. It’s a group effort and with that, I am lucky to be involved with such REAL artists.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

I would eat dinner with Salvador Dali because I have way too many questions.

Mauricio Zelaya

Photo Editor

Photography & Related Media, class of 2022

What is the best part of working at Blush?

Being able to work on set and help creative visions come to life.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would have to be Rihanna. She is a powerful iconic figure in pop-culture; she is a trend-setter. I admire her a lot.

Isabella Hurtado

Public Relations Director

Advertising & Marketing Communications, class of 2022

What is the best part of working at Blush?

My favorite part of my job at Blush is working with such talented and creative people. The other members of the e-board and Print as a whole inspire me to do my best and are constantly challenging me to work harder to produce the best work I can. Another part I love is how much of a family we are. Some of my favorite memories at FIT include Blush photo shoots or our weekly e-board meetings.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

This is such a tough question because there are so many people I want to talk to! If I could have dinner with anyone, I would have to choose Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun because she’s my favorite artist. I’m a total art nerd, and ever since I first saw her art in 2016, I’ve been obsessed. I literally went to Paris because I wanted to see more of her work- her work is grossly underrepresented in NYC! I remember the first time I saw her art I literally got chills because of how realistic her work is, but since she was a woman, I feel like she didn’t receive the admiration and exposure she deserves. Dinner with her would be a dream come true, I would love to hear about her opinions on today’s social climate and hear some of her stories.

Ashley Chon

Managing Editor

Advertising and Marketing Communications, class of 2022

What is the best part of working at Blush?

My favorite part about my job is getting the opportunity to work with such a talented and hardworking team that inspires me everyday. This team constantly encourages me to be creative and will consider any input- even if it’s dumb. I never knew what went into putting together a magazine, but this team taught me so much. This team has turned into my family- we talk in our group chat all day and night and I know I can always count on them.

If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be?

I would have dinner with Freddie Mercury because I have so many questions, and want to learn more about his life. He inspires me to do whatever I want to do, not to care what anybody else thinks of me, and just to have fun. I also just want to see what he would wear.

Kiana Clevinger

Senior Beauty Editor

Advertising & Marketing Communications, class of 2020

What is the best part of working at Blush?

My favorite parts of the job are learning how to be a better writer, and being able to learn about different beauty topics.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?

Rihanna for sure. She’s done so much in the fashion, beauty, and music industries. I really look up to her.

Emily Altieri

Senior Fashion Editor

Fashion Business Management, class of 2021

What is the best part of working at Blush?

Getting to work with writers to create articles that showcase their talent. Also, getting to read about all the cool topics of course!

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Post Malone because he’s the man.

Melody Keifer

Culture Section Senior Editor

Jewelry Design

What is the best part of working at Blush?

My favorite part about my job at Blush is getting to read, edit and contribute to a variety of articles written by different people. I generally enjoy the subject matter and have fun working on something new with other people.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with anyone, I’d eat a meal that I prepared with Gordon Ramsey, just to see what he’d have to say.
