FIT is an extremely unique campus. We have all of New York City to run around and experience. However, lots of fun, interesting, and free things happen right on 27th Street!
Every Sunday, the Department of Student Life sends out an email “This Week @ FIT” listing the events on campus for the week. This year, the FIT Student Government Association has many exciting happenings coming up, ranging from arts and crafts on the 7th Floor of Dubinsky, to large events both on and off campus.
The first week of classes is always considered “Week of Welcome.” This year, a Casino Night will be held on Thursday, February 2nd, from 7-9 p.m. in the Game Room on the 7th Floor of Dubinsky. The following week, auditions for the 11th Annual Drag Pageant will begin; the actual pageant will be March 17th, featuring an exclusive celebrity host!
Following the Drag Pageant, Wellness Week will be the week of March 20th and will include lots of health related activities and giveaways throughout campus. Additionally, spring semester Commuter Week will be the week of April 3rd to shout out and appreciate all the amazing commuters. Following spring recess, Fashion Revolution Week will begin the week of April 24th and consist of various sustainable and ethical focused programs on campus.
To conclude a busy semester and overall hectic year, May is all about going out with a bang! To kick off Grad Week, the second annual Springfest Concert will be Friday, May 5th. The following week will consist of lots of events from giveaways to games to help celebrate and congratulate our graduating class! Finally to end, the year on a high note, the annual Semi-Formal will be conclude Grad Week — date and theme to be announced!
As always, there are bi weekly movie nights on Wednesdays in the Dining Hall, and a multitude of events happening every week during common hours on the 7th floor of Dubinsky. In addition to following the “This Week @ FIT,” you can always follow event happenings by checking FIT Link – FIT’s private social media site for managing activities. It’s going to be a great semester, Tigers!
