“I first started experimenting with makeup in middle school, but truth be told it was because I was insecure with how I looked and wanted to look older/different. When I came to FIT, I went to the other extreme and did not wear any makeup for a year-and-a-half because of things in my personal life that drove me to be introspective and go on a spiritual and physical cleanse. I just got back into makeup at the start of the spring 2019 semester, but this time it was an artistic outlet for me. I viewed my face as a canvas not upon which to cover my beauty, but to enhance it and express my mood or who I wanted to be that particular day. I try to extend this philosophy to my designs, and cater towards individuals who are fluid with their style and truly authentic to oneself. I try to focus on details with an overall minimalist aesthetic, but truly I am still discovering myself as a creator and these are snapshots of my current stage in growth and technical ability.”
