5-Minute Beauty Looks

By Brooke Retell

There are mornings in which time goes by way too fast and the process of looking presentable feels like the last few seconds before winning a marathon. Maybe you hit snooze one too many times, or things just were not working in your favor that day; everyone has been there. You start to wonder if you have time to grab a granola bar before class, let alone apply a full face of makeup. This is where some tips from 5-minute looks can come in handy. Five minutes seems so short but it is enough time to create a quick, everyday look. You can go for a natural glow, smoked out eyes, or use fall shades for a seasonal look.

The first 5-minute beauty look to try is natural and contoured:

This can be made by first applying a lightweight, pigmented BB cream or tinted moisturizer for gentle coverage. For a natural contour, use a light bronzer that is easily blended, and a sheer illuminator to highlight the cheekbones and eyes. Filling in your brows with soft strokes and applying mascara to the top and bottom lashes will enhance the eyes to complete the look.

For the second look, it’s all about the smokey eyes:

Start off by applying a tinted moisturizer or BB cream and softly filling in the brows. To easily and efficiently create a smokey eye, apply a light nude on the lid, a medium brown in the crease, and black in the outer corner and under the eye. Blending these three shades will create a casual smokey look that can be darkened for a night out. To finish the eyes, add your favorite mascara!

The third look is inspired by the fall season and enriches warm and dark pigments:

For this every day look, start by applying your normal foundation product and of course, filling in your brows if you wish. Apply mascara to your top and bottom lashes with a shadow underneath the eye for a little pop of color! For the main focus, use a rose-toned blush and a dark red or berry colored lipstick. Matte or creamy finishes look great for this look. These shades of color will pair perfectly with any neutral outfit you’re wearing this season.

Never stress about having a crunched time frame to put on some makeup, remember a little goes a long way sometimes! Keeping things simple and focusing on one subject can help pull together the perfect look for any occasion you’re running off to.

As an extra tip for those busy mornings, beauty guru, Michelle Phan says, “set aside a little bag of [makeup] necessities close to your door that you can pick up and toss in your purse when you’re running late.”
