We’re getting to the point where we feel like we’ve watched most of the shows Netflix has to offer. Gossip Girl- been there; Vampire Diaries- done that; Grey’s Anatomy- seen it like 4 times. However, Netflix has upped the ante, and their March releases are surprisingly very good.
As the Netflix-aholic that I am, I can say from experience that you have to binge these 5 shows before March comes to an end:
The Umbrella Academy
For those of you who love Marvel or action shows, The Umbrella Academy is definitely for you. It’s the perfect mixture of superhero action, mystery, comedy, and there’s even some romance as well. This series is only one season complete with 10 episodes, each completely worth the 47 minutes. Season 1 ends in a cliffhanger, so hopefully that means season 2 is coming soon. Netflix definitely hit it out of the park with this series. Each episode ends with you begging to see the next (in 3…2…1).
The Night Shift
If you loved Grey’s Anatomy, The Night Shift is definitely your next go-to. The happenings in this hospital are dramatic, entertaining, and will sometimes leave you in your bed with an empty box of tissues. This series is 4 seasons long, with 43 minute episodes, so make sure you have your favorite snack with you (plus some extra). You are not going to want to stop for anything, trust me. Disclaimer: don’t start this series during midterms week (because we know which one you are going to choose over the other).
The Shannara Chronicles
The Shannara Chronicles is a sci-fi, fantasy, drama, and action show, all in one. Its main character is played by the one and only, Austin Butler- I mean, who wouldn’t want to see Austin Butler battle demons? The show is a little confusing at first, but you definitely catch on by the second episode. Every episode is its own story, and it’s definitely a little difficult to follow along with the different languages and terminology they use, but it is totally worth it. The Shannara Chronicles is one of the only shows that actually had me crying after finding out there’s not going to be a season 3.
One Day at a Time
One Day at a Time is a reboot of the American sitcom that originally aired in the 70’s. Despite being a reboot from 50 years ago, it manages to be completely relatable to now. You’re guaranteed to fall in love with every relatable character. The show will send you into a rollercoaster of emotions- it is funny, emotional, dramatic all at once. Right now, there are only 3 seasons, but there are plenty of rumours about a 4th. Trust me, this is a must-see.
Atypical is a series that narrates the life of an autistic boy named Sam. The series shows the day-to-day struggles of Sam and his family and friends. It’s going to make you laugh, cry, and most importantly, love. The series forces us to remember how we navigated high school and everything/everybody that came with it. Atypical is guaranteed to make you want to watch every minute of every episode in one day. Unfortunately, there are only 2 seasons so far. But is it worth it? Heck yes!
