Song of the Week: Gold by Kiiara

by Mikayla Madigan

20 year old, hardware store clerk, Illinois raised, Kiiara debuted her first single “Gold” on Fader in June 2015 with producer Felix Snow. Her glitchy, twitchy, abstract, hard hitting like sound is unique and eclectic, giving electronic a choppy and bumpy aesthetic. Yet it feels so delicate like she’s just whispering into the microphone.  Listening to the intricate sounds you can almost imagine a room of people doing a Lorde-like dance.

She’s the spitting image of a young, “normal” girl with a load of talent.  She says in her interview with Fader she makes music to “cut out the white noise and reach oblivion.” The listener completely experiences this escape while listening to her music.

With only two songs on Spotify, more of her music is hiding on Soundcloud. Her EP “low kii savage” is coming soon, and extremely anticipated.
