FIT’s campus spans one NYC block and meets fashion from corner to corner.
I decided it was time student street style was showcased on a wider basis. This past week it was Kayla Higgins’ silver hair that caught my eye. Check it out below.
Name: Kayla Nyree Higgins
Major: Fashion Design
Hometown: Temecula, CA
Q1: How would you describe your personal style?
“I don’t really keep with a particular style but my wardrobe is eclectic filled with mostly cheap thrifted blazers.”
Q2: Who is your style role model/style inspiration?
“Not to sound like pretentious or anything but I really just wear what I like and don’t pay attention to much else. A big part of developing personal style comes from just finding what you like without an outside influence.”
Q3: Where are key pieces from your outfit from?
“H&M (pants), Salvation Army (Jacket).”
Q4: What is your favorite trend at the moment?
“I personally love the 90s revival. It’s been going on for years but I feel like it’s finally reached a point where it’s evolving and doing something different and modern. Generally [anything] just very androgynous, fun, and casual.”
Q5: Least favorite trend?
“Hypebeasts and people who have [or feel] the need to own designer for the name even though it’s nothing special. Terrible makeup trend: wavy eyebrows.”
Q6: What is your favorite fall item you cannot wait to break out?
“My vintage leather trench coat that makes me look like Foxy Brown.”
Q7: What is your favorite beauty look right now?
“I’m kind of feeling this eyebrow slash look only because I have one from a scar that I don’t have to worry about filling in anymore.“
