As a college student in NYC, having a cheap food connoisseur is essential. We all want to save money, but why sacrifice a good meal? We’re here to let you know that you’ve got options! From deals to discounts, we’ve got you covered.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Happy Cinco De Mayo everyone! For this cheap eats article we went to Spanish Harlem in celebration of all Latinx culture. Taqueria Guadalupe offers humble bites, with great prices. We got some of our favorite tacos, chips, dips and sodas all for cheap eats price of $10 each! Sabine got an order of three veggie tacos with chips and guac with a pineapple Jarritos soda. I got an order of three chicken tacos and a fruit punch Jarritos soda. (Plus I stole some chips from Sabine… Thanks Sabine!)

The food was fresh, hot and authentic! I have not been having the best luck finding the level of quality in Mexican food in Manhattan, so personally, this was a great find. The tortillas were freshly made, which is like actually fluffy heaven. The chicken on my tacos were seasoned perfectly, giving off the familiar scents of lime, chile and saźon. The guac was filled with chunks of tomato, onion, cilantro and garlic inside. The chips, of course, were also made on site – fresh, warm and crispy.

The vegetarian tacos were surprisingly filling, which made it a steal for $10 for 3. You could tell the tortilla chips were authentic and fresh by their ability to hold as much guacamole as you could want! And always, you can never go wrong with a Jarritos soda, it’s the perfect accompaniment to a light dinner.

Our meals came out quickly, and we were able to come from Chelsea, eat and head back in about an hour and a half. If you haven’t been up to Spanish Harlem – take it from us, it’s worth the trip.
