It has been announced that Amal Clooney, Rihanna, and Donatella Versace will host the 2018 Met Gala. Each of these ladies are linked to their strong successful careers as well as exquisite style.
Amal Clooney has only attended one Met Gala in 2015 with beau George Clooney. She wore a custom deep red Maison Margiela Artisanal gown by John Galliano for “China: Through the Looking Glass.” Ms. Clooney’s biggest accomplishment is not marrying one of the most renowned actors in Hollywood but her work as a barrister. She has represented clients such as Julian Assange (founder of WikiLeaks), and the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko.
Rihanna, who has attended 7 times and performed two of those times, will return this year as a host as well. She has become one to watch on the red carpet after turning heads the last several years with extravagant looks including the Guo Pei yellow ensemble in 2015 and last years Comme des Garçon geometric ensemble.
Donatella Versace, the creative director and head of the fashion house Versace has attended the Met Gala 16 times and this is her first time co-hosting the event. Versace’s first attendance was in 1996, accompanying her now deceased brother Gianni Versace. Since then she has appeared on the carpet in several of her own gowns, occasionally with a famous face beside her including Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Halle Berry and Kylie Jenner.
The theme for the 2018 Met Gala is Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination. Vogue described the theme as “creating a dialogue between fashion and the masterworks of religious art.”
