Fashion and beauty have always been inextricably linked, one influencing the other. Whenever trends and innovations hit one, the other soon follows. It was only a matter of time before high fashion and mass-market collaborations (HMxKenzo, VBxTarget) made its way to the beauty world.
Balmain x L’Oreal
Balmain x L’Oreal, a limited edition collaboration, will be launching this September. The collection will include 12 L’Oreal Color Riche Lipsticks, grouped into three color themes. The man behind the magic, Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, previewed the collection back in May on Instagram. The post revealed some of the potential shades, ranging from bright pinks to deep, vampy plums. Rousteing has complete creative control over the collab, from the packaging, to the campaign, to the lipsticks themselves. L’Oreal also previewed some of the collection on their Instagram, posting a photo of a shimmering rose-gold lipstick named Confidence.
The face of the collaboration? None other than pouty supermodel, L’Oreal spokeswoman and Balmain muse, Doutzen Kroes.
Moschino X Sephora
Also following the high fashion collaboration trend will be Jeremy Scott’s Moschino, which will be releasing a collaboration with beauty brand Sephora. The collection will be a limited-edition line of teddy bear inspired makeup and accessories.
The best news? All the products ring it at under $70! Creative Director Jeremy Scott says that affordability was the starting point for this collab. “I learned very early on how much young people love my work, and sometimes they don’t have the means to get it. This is another way for me to do Moschino and not sacrifice quality. It’s a lot more accessible. I love to be able to put my arms around more people and have them be a part of the Moschino family in some capacity.”
The collection will include a 21 shade teddy-bear shaped eye palette, a highlighter-blush duo, and more! Moschino + Sephora will be available for purchase at Sephora beginning August 11.
